Tycoon Offers $63 Million to Marry Off Lesbian Daughter, Gigi Chao

Making the male half of the world an offer it can't refuse, a Hong Kong tycoon has offered $63 million to a suitor who will marry his lesbian daughter.Shipping magnate Cecil Chao Sze-tsung, 76, announced the 'marriage bounty' after his 33-year-old daughter, Gigi Chao, married her longtime same-sex partner in France earlier this year. Disputing the authenticity of the marriage, Chao wants his daughter to marry any man who wins her heart, but said he wouldn't force her to marry against her will, according to The Telegraph.
A colourful fixture on the Hong Kong social scene (and someone who once claimed to have slept with 10,000 women), Chao says "I don't mind whether he is rich or poor. The important thing is that he is generous and kind-hearted."
Chao thinks an entrepreneurial type would suit his daughter well, admitting to the South China Morning Post that the plan was "an inducement to attract someone who has the talent but not the capital to start his own business."
For her part, Gigi seems every inch a modern, independent woman, whose LinkedIn profile indicates she graduated from University of Manchester with a degree in architecture, is a licensed helicopter pilot, and is active in many charities.
On her Facebook page earlier today she posted that she'd stopped accepting friend requests and wrote: "where do all these people come from? Jerusalm? Ethiopia? Istanbul? ridiculous."
Still she does seem to have a sense of humour, telling the BBC that she found her father's plan "entertaining" and wouldn't worry about it until an actual suitor had been found.

September 29 2012 at 7:28 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIt sounds like she needs a husband as much as a fish needs a bicycle but if she truly has room in her heart and life for another love,I wish her the best.As for her father's 'Money Aproach"to this ,all he has done is to guarantee that the waters will be filled with sharks,gold diggers,and people with ulterior motives.He has made a difficult journey into an almost impossible one.How will she ever be absolutely sure.I suspect that since they are looking for a business type of person that the sixty-three million is in yen which still comes out to seven hundred and ninety seven dollars and change.Still a princely sum in some people's books.Still if this is what you truly want Gigi,my heart goes out to you .Good luck,I think you will be needing it.

If she is happy with her choice and her sexuality (lesbian is not a choice) I wish her nothing but joy and happiness. And good health of course. I wish the father well but I think he has some selfish ideas as demonstrated by his pursuit of so many women, I do wish him good health as well as he is a waliking epidemic for STD s .
