Six Unique Ways to Wrap a Gift Card

Nowadays, you can find gift cards for everything from coffee and clothing to movies and music and they make great last-minute gifts when you're absolutely stumped about what to get someone.

When you give a gift card, it may seem like the only wrapping solution is to pop it in an envelope with a greeting card but there are other options. Check out these six unique ways to wrap a gift card.

Pack a gift card inside a small token gift like a pocket screwdriver set. A Home Depot gift card would be a perfect match for this idea, although the gift card doesn't necessary have to match the token gift, so long as the tools are something you think the recipient will appreciate.

Slip a gift card into a shirt or pajama pocket or, if you want to get cute, tuck it into one of a pair of socks.

Frame it. Everybody uses picture frames and it's a great way to disguise a gift card. Just tape it to the center of the frame where the picture goes and wrap it up.

Buy a tote bag from the person's favorite store and hide the store's gift card under a bunch of tissue paper. One year, I bought my book-loving daughter a gift card from Chapters, along with their reusable tote bag. I put the gift card in the inside pocket of the tote and filled it with tissue paper. It was fun to see the look of puzzlement on her face at the seemingly empty bag until I took pity on her and told her where to look.

For the person who frequents the coffee shop, Tim Horton's has a reusable coffee sleeve with a pocket on the back to keep a Tim card. The coffee sleeve costs $2.99 and comes on a cardboard holder that makes it easy to wrap. Just load the gift card with whatever amount you wish, stick it in the little pocket and wrap it up.

You can get a set of four plastic CD/DVD cases for $1.25 at Dollarama. Tape any gift card to the inside cover, with the front of the gift card facing out, close and wrap. Tell your son-in-law, who hates musicals, that it's a copy of The Sound of Music. There should be an audible sigh of relief when he finds the gift card to his favorite sports store.
