Start Holiday Shopping Now And Nab Great Gift Ideas At Dollar Store
Filed under: Bargains, Economizer, House & Home, Shopping, Holidays
Yeah, I know, we haven't even had Thanksgiving yet, but it doesn't hurt to start your holiday shopping early, especially since you can nab the bits and pieces you need for really great gifts a little at a time and never pay more than two bucks per item. By spreading the expense out over a couple of months, you can save time, develop gift ideas and avoid the panic of last-minute shopping. The other thing you need to keep in mind when dollar store shopping is that, often, what you see one week will be gone the next, never to be seen again. So, if you see something that would help to make a great Christmas gift, grab it when you see it.
Here are a few of the things I've spotted at Dollarama lately that could be included in gift baskets or smaller teacher-type gifts:
Flower-shaped glass tea light holder - This heavy-weight three dimensional tea light holder has been grabbing my attention for some time. Two of these on their own would make a substantial looking gift for someone. Or pack some scented tea lights with one or a pair of tea light holders. To me, this tea light holder looks and feels much more expensive than its $2 price tag would suggest and is something that any hostess would be pleased to receive as a gift.
Large bag of potpourri - These 226g bags of potpourri cost $2, contain some larger decorative pieces and come in different scents like vanilla or strawberry. Paired with a curvy vase, also $2, potpourri would make a lovely hostess gift this holiday season.
Floral wick scented oil diffuser - I've had a couple of these. The scented oil is soaked up through the wick into the attached flower which then diffuses the scent around the room. It's a good strong scent that lasts a few weeks. Great addition to a gift basket of scented candles or bath products. On its own, you could also pop this scented oil into someone's Christmas stocking.
Two-cup teapot - I found these little teapots at Dollar Giant for $1.25. They come in fun colors like yellow and green. Pair one with a small box of herbal tea to make a teacher gift or something for one of the kids to give Grandma.
The beauty of these ideas is that you can add to them, or not, as your budget allows. For instance, a box of fancy chocolate-covered cookies from Dollarama, (they're yummy!), could be added to the teapot gift and you've still spent only $2.25 plus the cost of whatever tea you choose.

I usually get my everyday gifts for people from http://savecreatively.com They have a pretty good cash back shopping deal with something like over 400 or 500 different retailers to shop from. The site also has some great freebies that I've even given as gifts before.
