How to Save Money on Lunch

Buying lunch at work can add up quickly. So it goes without saying that one of the easiest ways you can save money is by cutting down or eliminating this convenient yet expensive habit.

"The cost of the average takeout lunch is six dollars, and the lunch you pack yourself not only costs less, but tends to be healthier," says Jeanette Pavini of Better Ways to Save. "Cheese, tuna, peanut butter and jelly didn't break the dollar barrier. You can also save by cooking extra dinner, and packing it at lunch. You can save well over $1000 a year."
