Classy Teacher Gifts From The Dollar Store
Filed under: Shopping

The end of the school year means thanking our kids' teachers for their efforts to instill knowledge and life skills to our sometimes unwilling offspring. A heart-felt, hand-written note of thanks from you or, better yet, your child, is the first and best thing you should give.
Then, if you wish, consider giving one of these classy teacher gifts from the dollar store.Dollarama has small decorative tins of butter cookies for just a buck. Put one of these in a bag along with a boxed pedestal mug or boxed "coffee" motif mug with ceramic spoon. The pedestal mugs are decorated with a more feminine design and are available in soft pink, blue or green. The mugs are $2 each and would make lovely gifts all on their own.
Since it's the beginning of summer, why not give your teacher a relaxation gift. Buy a small oval bin from the dollar store, which is a smaller version of the kind used to keep drinks chilled, and fill it with things for the backyard. You might include flip flops, sunglasses, a lawn ornament, a small lantern or candle, a puzzle book, a drink and some snacks.
Another idea along the same lines, is to pack a small tote bag with picnic items like a couple of melamine plates and wine glasses or tumblers, some Perrier and some picnic-friendly food.
Does your child's teacher have a sweet tooth? Dollarama has 100g Nestle Noir Swiss milk chocolate bars and 140g bags of Russell Stover international chocolate squares for $2 each. Simply add a card or pair the chocolate with one of the boxed mugs mentioned earlier.
You could also buy a glass jar that has a lid, fill it with a variety of wrapped candies or chocolate bars, paste an apple-shaped label to the outside with the teacher's name on it and tie a pretty ribbon around the top.
There are lots of attractive frames and photo albums at the dollar store. I saw a very attractive women's photo clutch wallet in different designs that holds 4x6 pictures. Pop one of your child's school photos in one of these to start her off on a collection of some of the children she's taught over the years.
There's also a very attractively packaged set of Ivy & Castle hand lotion and hand soap at Dollarama for $2 that would make a nice gift for a lady teacher all on its own.
