Looking for Snow? How to Find a Winter Vacation Spot

For those who thought this winter would be another cold terror - think again.

Its been unseasonably warm for many of us across Canada - and the desire to flee into the sun has been lessened by temps hovering at zero and the lack of blizzards.

But what about the ski and snowboard crowd? For them, this winter so far has been a disappointment. All that new gear brought by Santa has so far seen little action.

But if you're willing to travel - there's a few spots that the snow has indeed made it on to the mountain.

For those who have a soft spot for Canadian resorts, check out the feeds for the popular resorts such as Whistler, Tremblant, Kicking Horse, Blue Mountain or Fernie.

Devotees of winter who will happily look for flights should track where the snow is and figure out the easiest flights (such as direct) for the best deals. For example, those who live in Toronto or Montreal, who want to find snow should consider Vermont, with Porter Airlines introducing seasonal flights to Burlington (and flights to Tremblant too).

Those who live in Calgary or Vancouver have too many options close by, but if they chose to check out new places, direct flights via Air Canada to cool snow spots such as Denver, Colorado and Salt Lake City, Utah can make sure you're on a new mountain for the afternoon.

And note - with these warm temps, the deals will start increasing, so keep an eye on airlines sales as well as Expedia, Travelocity or TravelZoo to have some deals for those looking for winter.
