The Recall Report: Lenovo PCs, Toyota & GM and Fuji Bicycles

Filed under: Consumer Complaints, Product Recalls, Technology

Consumers have been warned - with Mars in retrograde, electronics and transportation are always affected, as in this week's review of recalls in Canada:

Health Canada has issued a recall for the Lenovo ThinkCentre M70z and M90z desktop computers because of the potential of an internal component overheating and causing a fire.

The computers were manufactured between March 2010 and November 2011.

Lenovo has received reports of several incidents of fire and smoke emitting from the computers, but none of these have occurred in Canada.

Over 7500 computers were sold in Canada via online and authorized Lenovo retailers between May 2010 and January 2012.

Consumers are asked to contact Lenovo to confirm their computer is part of the recall and to receive a free repair at 1-855-248-2194.

The switch may not signal the car's lights to be on, which could cause a problem while driving, especially to other drivers not knowing the driver's intentions.

Toyota has also issued a recall for the Tacoma truck, model years 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, because the steering wheel electrical circuitry may be damaged and during an accident may prevent the deployment of the airbag.

Drivers are asked to contact their Toyota dealer for further information about these recalls and complimentary repair, which affect 47,000 vehicles in Canada. More information can be found via Transport Canada.

General Motors has issued a recall for the Buick Regal, model year 2012, because of a possible problem with incorrect programming of the body control module which controls the high intensity discharge headlamps.

Car owners are asked to contact their General Motors dealership for a free reprogramming of the body control module.

Health Canada has issued a recall for the Fuji Saratoga women's cruiser bicycle, due to a possible fault with the frame, which can break and cause the rider to fall during operation.

Models from 2008, 2009, and 2010 are included in the recall including Saratoga 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 in various colours. For model numbers and UPC codes, check the Health Canada description here. Over 300 bicycles were sold at retailers across Canada between January 2008 and November 2011.

Consumers are asked to contact Vellend Inc. and return the bicyle for a free frame replacement at 1-416-251-5006 or office@vellendtech.com.
