Filed under: Food & Drink, House & Home, Product Recalls

Hopefully we're moving into summer as it's now May, but it also means we need to keep a close eye on the recalls reflecting the season.

Health Canada has issued two recalls for children's clothing. The first items is a 100% cotton dress from MEXX Fall 2011 collection, which poses a hazard to little girls because a decorative item on the dress can detach from the clothing and become a possible choking hazard.

This part of an expanded recall, which now includes sizes 3-6 months to 24-30 months in Choco-Beige, Playing Pink, Mulberry and Purple Haze, sold from August 2011 until March 2012 in MEXX stores across Canada.

Consumers are asked to contact MEXX 1-800-565-6399 and can return the item for a full refund.Health Canada has also recalled Armani Junior garments with crystal ornamentation, because the crystals contain lead in excess of the allowable limit.

There are 18 models involved in the recall, which were sold at retailers across Canada between November 2011 and February 2012. Giorgio Armani Corporation Canada have received no reports of any injury or illness in connection with the recall of these garments.

Consumers should return the item to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Health Canada and Loblaws have issued a recall for the Everyday Essentials refillable BBQ lighter, as the lighter does not meet the standards for Lighter Regulations in Canada.

The recalled lighters have the manufacture date of 12/11, UPC code 0 58703 04168 4 and a brown, red or blue handle. Over 3000 of the lighters were sold at Loblaws stores across Canada between February and April 2012.

Consumers can contact Loblaws for more information at 1-888-296-2332.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued these allergy alerts:
