Camping Tips: Five Money Saving Tips For Camping

The campsite is booked. The car needs to be packed up. Did you bring everything? How many of us go through these mental checklist when we go camping? Well, the good news is that the more you go camping, packing not only gets better but it's also easier because over time you start accumulating the necessities.
When I started camping, I created my camping box - a see-through plastic storage bin that become the repository for all things needed for camping.
But even the pros love finding out a few tips - especially if it helps save money too.Marc Bingeman, the owner of Bingemans Camping Resort, offers five tips to make anyone into the camping super hero (and keep more money in your wallet):
1. Bar of soap - More than just a good way to keep clean, using the bar of soap on the bottom of the frying pan will prevent permanent black marks from the campfire flame. And for those prone to mosquito bites, it quickly can take away the itch.
2. Pita bread - A better investment than traditional bread for sandwiches - stays flat, takes up less space and just as tasty an alternative to bread slices.
3. Cardboard tubes - Keep the paper tube rolls from toilet paper and paper towel - instead of tossing in the recycle box, stuff the tubes with newspaper and use as a firestarter for the campfire.
4. Garlic - not only a good thing for cooking on the campfire, mix the chopped garlic with water and use as a natural insect repellent. Spray around the site to keep flying insects far away from you and your friends (and maybe keep a few unruly campers away too).
5. Glowsticks - great for kids to use as a light source at night instead of a nightlight, and won't distract from the stars in the sky. Use them to light pathways around the tent for a subtle addition of light.
