Inexpensive camping gear at Dollarama. For many families, camping is a fun and economical vacation. After tents and cook stoves have been bought, there are still lots of smaller supplies that are needed and it can all add up. But you can save on camping gear by stopping buy a Dollarama before your trip.

Here are just a few of the quality items you'll find. I think, after comparing them with similar items at a hardware store, you'll agree that the prices can't be beat.
  • battery-operated lantern - This handled plastic lantern is five inches high and about 10-inches in circumference for two bucks. It comes in an assortment of colors, batteries extra.
  • round 12-light led camp light - This is the type that's meant to fit on a tent pole but it also comes with a hanger and costs $2.
  • compass - For the truly adventurous, this handy compass comes with a string to hang around you neck and costs $2.
  • collapsible water carrier - It folds flat for easy packing but holds 5 liters of water when opened and it has a handy spigot for easy access to a cup of water. Not a bad deal for $1.50.
  • folding camp stool - I have one of these and they are very sturdily built for $2. They're the perfect height for sitting by a stream fishing or for toasting marshmallows around the campfire.
  • toaster forks - These long-handled metal forks come in set of three for $1.50.
  • clothesline - It goes without saying that you'll need somewhere to hang wet bathing suits. For a buck, this 65 foot nylon clothesline should be more than enough for most needs.
  • folding bucket - Just like the water carrier, this nine liter bucket folds flat for travel. It's perfect for a camp site, boat or trailer and costs just $2.
  • emergency blanket - This lightweight blanket is compacted into a pocket-sized package but folds out to 84 inches by 53 inches and costs only a buck.
  • fire starter - This is a package of 12 cubes that are made of sawdust and wax. They're perfect for helping to start a charcoal barbecue or a campfire. At $1 per package, you can afford to stock up.
  • tent pegs - Dollarama usually has plastic tent pegs in various sizes but I recently saw a set of 4 metal ones that are 12-inches long for $2.
  • utensil set - For $2, you can get a three-piece knife, fork and spoon set that clips together for easy packing and storage.
