Everyone is in back to school mode.

For students its a mix of anxiety heading back into the classroom, meeting new people, learning from new teachers and exploring new subjects.

For parents, its all about organizing those students - whether its college, highschool or elementary, there are school supplies to be purchased and new resources to be considered for the school year.

But not everything needed for school costs money or needs to be purchased at the mall.

Here's a list of website resources that will prove invaluable homework helpers for any student, no matter the age.
1. Google - it may seem obvious, since its the most popular search engine, but within the family, there are many resources to help a student learn about the world - Google Earth helps you learn about the planet and surrounding space, Google World Wonders Project reveals information about historic and archeological sites around the world, Google Art Project welcomes viewers into art galleries around the world while Google Sky Map will teach you about the stars and constellations.

2. Dictionary.com - no matter the project, the right words will make it better. Every student should have this website in their bookmark list, not just to insure correct spelling (don't rely on spell check!), learn the meanings of word and to learn new words as the site shares a word every day to increase vocabulary. And for those who focus on writing, the website's thesaurus.com is invaluable for finding the right synonym.

3. Time for Kids - TIME Magazine has set up a website for the under 12 set, which offers homework helpers, videos, and stories about what's going on ie. a history lesson about England, information about the wildfires and interviews with some tv celebs well-known in the pre-teen group.

4. National Geographic Kids - perfect for the kid who loves science and nature, this website has many photos and videos, games as well as challenges for kids - easily teaching kids about the planet without making it too much like a homework assignment.

5. IMDB -for the pop culture geek, the Internet Movie Database is the best source for information about the worlds of film and television. Whether its for researching the film and tv history of a book or learning more about a director, this website is an accurate list of what's gone on in the past 100+ years of acting.

6. Encyclopedia Britannica - a mainstay of every library, the website should be used by students for fact-checking - remember its been verified by many reliable sources and can't be altered by just anyone. Each day the website highlights items in the news to give historical facts and additional information.

7. Scientific American - don't struggle through those complicated science problems - ask an expert. This magazine has been a leading resource for science for decades, and can be a helper for those needing answers.
