Click & Grow Makes Year-Round Gardening Easy

If you've decided to throw in the hoe because of your lack of botanical know-how, chin up your plant killing days may soon be over. After witnessing the deaths of many of his plants, Mattias Lepp, wanted to use technology -- aeroponics to be exact -- to allow him and other people who were not born with a green thumb to successfully grow plants year round. What he came up with was Click and Grow, the ultimate hassle-free garden.
Minimal effort, maximum joy
The easy-to-use electronic smart flowerpot grows plants without regular watering and fertilizing. As a result, everyone can be a gardener. The Estonian-based company's smart technology measures all the necessary parameters and doses an exact amount of water, fertilizer and air, according to the plant's needs. All you need to do is add batteries, a little water and pop in a cartridge containing seeds and nutrients. This is perfect for frequent travelers, busy parents and urbanites living in small spaces and just about anyone who wants to make their home or office greener.

Why it's worth it
At $60 per kit it isn't exactly cheap. Alternatively, you could pick up a package of seeds at your local grocer or gardening store for a buck or two. However, if you were to consider that the average houseplant lasts for only one to two months and that every year people throw away about $30 billion worth of plants because they cannot take care of them, you could also come to the conclusion that Click and Grow is a good value because of its longevity and ease of use. And, according to Lepp, the pesticide- and hormone-free Click and Grow isn't a plant -- it's a garden. He says users are fascinated by the regular growth and progression that they see in their gardens.
The bigger picture
While the company is less than three years old they are continuing to develop different food growing systems, providing an even more extensive selection of seeds and further developing their technology to produce foods in different places. In the near future the company hopes to create the technology that will help to mitigate the current global food crisis.
