Are you the person who always wanted to be the DJ at the party? The person who had the massive music collection, and who, despite the move from albums, cassettes, CDs and now mp3s, owns all these formats?But reality bites - this isn't a career. You go to school to learn to become a teacher, to work in business to become a dentist.
You don't go to school to become a DJ do you? That's a part-time job for weddings and parties.
The reality of the 21st century is that a DJ is now a full-time career - one that can put you on the A list and earning $100,000 per gig. According to Forbes.com, the modern-day DJ, one who can command the same kind of money as well-known bands, is big business.
In the past 12 months, reports Forbes, the kings of EDM - electronic dance music - have pulled in US$125 million, thanks to endorsements, merchandise and endless touring.
Unlike their musician counterparts, DJs travel with minimal equipment, a far cry from the touring entourage, and earn more than the 1/3 of gross ticket sales that rock stars typically make on the road.

10. Avicii - a 23 year old spinner from Sweden, he's ranked number six in the top DJ list and earned a healthy $7 million in the past 12 months.
9. Afrojack - Grammy winning Dutch DJ Nick van de Wall spins under his moniker for a cool $9 million in earnings in the past year.
8. Kaskade - aka Ryan Raddon, this American DJ has been a Billboard Dance chart fave and has seven albums to his credit - as well as $10 million last year.
7. DJ Pauly D - the reality show star moonlights on MTV's Jersey Shore, but easily makes more spinning with earnings of $11 million last year.
6. DeadMau5 - the Canadian DJ has made his mark with many mainstream performances and a cool $11.5 million in salary.
5. Steve Aoki - earning $12 million in the past year was a labour of love, as he spun his tunes at over 200 performances.
4. David Guetta - the sweet sounds of spinning from this Frenchman earned him a cool $13.5 million, thanks to pop crossover hit Nothing But the Beat
3. Swedish House Mafia - although this Scandinavian trio recently called it quits as a group, their past year earned them $14 million.
2. Skrillex - this California boy is in demand - earning a Grammy Award and an annual salary of $15 million.
1. Tiesto - according to Pollstar, this Dutch-born spinner is the top of heap, earning $22 million, with a nightly fee of $250,000.
