The Recall Report: Easter Toy, Camping Dishes & Lacrosse Helmet

A mixed bag of items for consumers to be aware of this week from the recall list:Health Canada has issued a recall for the Hide and Surprise Easter novelty toy shower duck, because a detachable part of the toy may be a choking hazard.
The toy consists of four yellow rubber ducks in a mesh bag with UPC 012495979167. Over 3000 were sold at London Drugs stores in Canada.
There have been no reports of any injuries related to this toy, which was sold between January 2008 and March 2012.
Consumers can return the toy to London Drugs for a full refund; for more information 1-888-991-2299.
The Recall Report: Beef, Kawasaki Motorcycles & MEXX Infant Clothing

Attention shoppers: check your freezer, as the Canadian Food Inspection Agency lists many food recalls, including an expansion of the recall on frozen beef.After issuing a recall last week, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has widened its recall of frozen beef to include over 135 products that may contain e.coli O157:H7 bacteria.
The products were manufactured between July 1, 2011 and February 15, 2012 and were distributed to restaurants, retail stores and institutional kitchens across Canada by Establishment 761.
The extensive list of items include brands such as Country Morning, Best Value, Grillhouse, Keg, PC Blue Menu, Simply Food, Western Family and Zabiha Halal, and are a variety of burgers and steakettes.
Consumers should check their products carefully and if they have any questions should contact their retailer for further information.
The Recall Report: Lenovo PCs, Toyota & GM and Fuji Bicycles

Consumers have been warned - with Mars in retrograde, electronics and transportation are always affected, as in this week's review of recalls in Canada:Health Canada has issued a recall for the Lenovo ThinkCentre M70z and M90z desktop computers because of the potential of an internal component overheating and causing a fire.
The computers were manufactured between March 2010 and November 2011.
Lenovo has received reports of several incidents of fire and smoke emitting from the computers, but none of these have occurred in Canada.
Over 7500 computers were sold in Canada via online and authorized Lenovo retailers between May 2010 and January 2012.
Consumers are asked to contact Lenovo to confirm their computer is part of the recall and to receive a free repair at 1-855-248-2194.

The Recall Report: Toys, Teapot and Michael's Gel Adhesives

Hot off the presses from Health Canada - its all about the house in this week's recalls:Health Canada has issued a recall for two toys - The Pizza Playset and The Fishing Game, which both have tested for a high quantity of lead exceeding Canadian law requirements.
The items were imported from China by a Montreal distributor, who has removed all of its supply from the marketplace.
The Pizza Playset is comprised of plastic pizza, utensils and condiments with barcode 094922130778 while The Fishing Game is a fishing rod and five fish with barcode 094922553980.
Health Canada is advising consumers that if they have these toys to discard into the household garbage. As well, Health Canada is investigating to see if other companies distributed the toys in Canada.
The Recall Report: Outdoor Equipment, Child Restraint System & Chocolate

For those outdoor enthusiasts that are outside no matter what the weather, be aware of these two recalls:Health Canada has issued a recall for the Redhead Hubstyle Promo Hunting Blind, as the tent fabric does not meet the flammability requirements under Canadian law.
The tent is made from polyester fabric, with SKU #1795687 and model number RB-1003.
The hunting blind was sold at Bass Pro Shops across Canada between August and October 2011. Consumers can return the hunting blind for a full refund or store credit.

The Recall Report: West Elm Lamp, Baby Items & Food Alerts

Check out around the house for these items that have been recalled this week:Health Canada and West Elm have issued a recall for the Overarching Floor Lamp, due to the possible shock hazard because of a short circuit problem with the lamp's wiring.
The curved lamp is nickel with a lampshade in natural, white or charcoal linen.
There have been 39 reports of short circuits in the United States, but no reports in Canada. The lamps were sold in Canada from March until November 2011, with over 150 sold in-store and online.
Consumers are asked to return the lamp to a West Elm store for a full refund and can contact the retailer at 1-855-236-1941.
The Recall Report: Bike Helmets, Wagons, Jewellery and KIA Vehicles

Be on the lookout for a few items that may have been brought by Santa in this week's recall report:Health Canada has issued a recall for Little Tricky multi-purpose helmets that can be used as bicycle helmets. The helmets do not meet the safety requirements for collision testing.
The recall includes the Triple Eight S/M EPS helmet in black, white, bone, blue and green and Sector 9 S/M EPS helmet in gray, white, black, blue and green, both with the logo on both sides of the helmet and can be used for kids or youth.
Almost 1000 helmets were sold from August 2006 until December 2011, and consumers are asked to contact Triple Eight Distribution for a full refund at 1-888-548-8518.
The Recall Report: Kids' Water Bottles, Sleepers & High Chairs

Its all about the little ones items in this week's recall report - so keep your eyes open for these products:Health Canada has issued a recall for Dora the Explorer, Sesame Street and Spider-Man water bottles, as the stopper can potentially come out, posing a hazard to children.
The plastic water bottles have a pull up spout, are marked with the brand FAIGIE and the item #10-3003582.
Consumers are asked to stop using the water bottles and dispose of them. Almost 350,000 bottles were sold at Dollarama from December 2007 until December 2011.

Happy New Year! 2012 kicks off with recalls around the house - and a list focused on some popular items that could have appeared under the Christmas tree.West Elm, a division of Williams-Sonoma Inc., as well as the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada have issued a recall for the Dover Dining Table, a tempered glass-topped dining table with a brown wood base, with SKU# 2188233.
The table base is not able to support the weight of the table top and can collapse, posing a safety hazard. There have been 14 reports of table base collapses and almost a 1000 tables sold in Canada and the United States between July and October 2011.
Consumers are asked to contact West Elm for a full store credit and to arrange a free pickup of the table at 1-855-369-4335.

As the days run out on 2011, everyone likes to look back at what's gone this past year.Every week Walletpop Canada examines what products are being recalled, and regularly checks the Federal Government's site Healthy Canadians, to see what's been pulled off the shelves and removed from the grocery store.
There has been a steady list of recalled items found in every room of the house: male sexual enhancement drugs and herbal weight loss drinks to sports equipment, cars and toys - there are now a regular list of items that retailers and consumers need to be made aware.
