August Real Estate Round-Up: What You Get For $400K Or Less

Filed under: Family Finances, Real Estate, Mortgages, Your Home

Every month WalletPop searches the MLS listings for attractive homes at a reasonable cost. We've limited our picks to homes selling for less than $400K to include homes that most people can afford. The average selling price in June 2012 was $369,339, and many of the properties we highlight are even less than that. With mortgage rates at record lows, there's no better time to go house hunting and lock in a mortgage at a low rate.

Most Expensive Cities to Buy a Home in Canada

Filed under: House & Home, Real Estate, Your Home

According to CREA (the Canadian Real Estate Association), housing sales were down 3.1% from April to May 2012. But compared to a year ago, actual sales were up 9%. So it's a strong market though the national average home price is actually down 0.3% on a year-over-year basis in May. Easing sales activity and a small uptick in new listings resulted in a more balanced national housing market.
