An Ipsos-Reid survey showed that 97 per cent of the cottages owned by Canadians are co-owned by family members. It’s an arrangement that may be convenient for family gatherings or birthdays but be sure to enjoy it while it lasts – 11 per cent of the family members surveyed also said sharing a cottage caused a “family rift”, along with a massive showdown between lawyers, arbitrators and real-estate agents.
