Twenty years ago, Yale Law School professor Ian Ayres published a study that showed that women were, on average, offered list prices $200 higher than prices quoted to white men at car dealerships. (Black women fared even worse — they were quoted prices $400 higher.) The study has been updated twice, with similar results.
